How JPH safeguards the scholarly record against fabrication, redundant publication, and citation manipulation.
To maintain the integrity and credibility of the scientific record, Lakshmi Biosciences is committed to ensuring that all published articles adhere to the highest standards of research and publication ethics. Authors who knowingly submit false information, fabricate or falsify data, manipulate images, or engage in unethical publication practices will be subject to appropriate editorial action, including manuscript rejection, article retraction, notification of affiliated institutions where appropriate, and restrictions on future submissions.
Where necessary, Lakshmi Biosciences will publish post-publication notices to preserve the accuracy and reliability of the scholarly record.
Lakshmi Biosciences will publish a Correction Notice whenever errors or omissions are identified that affect the interpretation, accuracy, or completeness of a published article. Such corrections may include, but are not limited to, inaccurate figures, incorrect author information, omitted funding acknowledgements, or undisclosed competing interests.
Errors are generally classified as major or minor.
Major errors are those that affect the scientific interpretation, reliability, or integrity of the published work. Minor errors are editorial or typographical mistakes that do not alter the scientific findings or conclusions.
For major corrections, the Publisher will:
For minor corrections, a separate Correction Notice will generally not be issued. Instead, the online article will be updated, and an editorial footnote will indicate that minor corrections have been incorporated.
Any decision regarding the correction, expression of concern, or retraction of a published article will be made in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and COPE Flowcharts. Editors will follow the relevant COPE guidance when handling cases involving fabricated data, research misconduct, duplicate publication, plagiarism, image manipulation, and other publication ethics concerns.
COPE Flowchart: Fabricated Data in a Published Article
Lakshmi Biosciences considers only original manuscripts that have not been previously published in print or electronic form and are not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals at the same time. Simultaneous submission constitutes unethical publishing behavior and may result in manuscript rejection or additional editorial sanctions.
Authors are required to cite their previously published work where relevant and clearly explain how the submitted manuscript differs from earlier publications. References to related manuscripts, whether published, under review, or available as preprints, should be disclosed during submission.
If text from an author's previously published work is reused, appropriate citation and acknowledgement must be provided. Reuse of figures, tables, illustrations, or substantial portions of text requires permission from the copyright holder whenever applicable.
Extended versions of conference papers may be considered for publication provided that:
Redundant publication, duplicate publication, undisclosed self-plagiarism, or publication of substantially identical data may result in manuscript rejection, article retraction, or other editorial actions.
Lakshmi Biosciences promotes ethical and responsible citation practices.
Authors should include only references that are directly relevant to the submitted work. Attempts to artificially increase citation counts through excessive self-citation, citation stacking, or unnecessary references intended solely to influence citation metrics are considered unethical.
Editors and reviewers must not require authors to add citations for the purpose of increasing citations to their own publications, those of colleagues, affiliated institutions, or any particular journal unless such references are scientifically justified and directly relevant to the manuscript.
Evidence of citation manipulation may result in editorial investigation and appropriate corrective action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
