Publishing Ethics & Rectitude

The core principles applicable to editors, reviewers, authors, and publishers throughout the publication process at JPH.

Publishing Ethics and Rectitude

The publication of scientific research is a conscientious, systematic, and comprehensive process that requires efficiency and competence from both publishers and editors. To maintain high ethical standards and ensure the publication of quality research, Lakshmi Biosciences is committed to working closely with journal editors, authors, and peer reviewers at all stages of the publishing process.

The core principles of Lakshmi BioScience's publishing ethics, applicable to all individuals involved in the publication process, are as follows:

For Editors

The editor of a journal holds a critical role in making key editorial decisions on all peer-reviewed articles submitted for publication.

The editor should uphold transparency in academic research and publication records, ensuring that ethical standards are not compromised by professional or commercial interests. Editors should also be prepared to publish retractions, corrections, and errata whenever necessary.

Manuscripts should be evaluated objectively based solely on their scientific quality and intellectual content, without bias related to race, gender, geographical origin, religion, or any personal characteristics of the author(s). Editorial decisions must be based exclusively on academic merit and remain free from commercial influence or personal interests.

Editors must maintain strict confidentiality and must not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts before their official publication.

Ensuring research integrity is paramount. If Lakshmi Biosciences suspects any form of research misconduct, it will investigate thoroughly and promptly in collaboration with the appropriate authorities. Any irregularities observed during the peer review process are addressed with diligence, fairness, and transparency.

Responsibility of Reviewers

  • Provide a detailed, constructive, and unbiased evaluation of the scientific content in a timely manner.
  • Assess whether the manuscript is relevant, concise, and clearly written while evaluating its originality, scientific validity, and technical accuracy.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the entire peer review process.
  • Inform the journal editor of any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest and decline the review assignment if such conflicts exist.
  • Report any ethical concerns identified during the review process, including suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, unethical research involving human or animal subjects, or significant similarities with previously published work.

For Authors

  • All work presented in the manuscript must be original and free from any form of plagiarism.
  • Manuscripts must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal at the time of submission.
  • Any actual or potential conflicts of interest must be fully disclosed.
  • Proper acknowledgement must be given to all referenced or cited works, whether originating from individuals, institutions, organizations, or companies. Permission must be obtained where required.
  • Only individuals who have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception, design, execution, interpretation, or writing of the work should be listed as authors. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be recognized appropriately in the Acknowledgements section.

For Publishers

Lakshmi Biosciences is committed to working closely with journal editors by clearly defining their roles and responsibilities to ensure transparent, fair, and well-informed editorial decisions throughout the publication process.
